114 small scale programmes slated in Terengganu Tourism Calendar to attract more tourists in 2020

A total of 114 small-scale programmes and 26 major events has been listed in Terengganu Tourism Calendar 2020, said state Tourism, Culture and Information Technology Committee chairman Ariffin Deraman.

With the slated programmes, the state government is optimistic of reaching the target of five million tourists this year, he told a press conference following the launch of the Terengganu Tourism Calendar 2020 and the 2020 New Year celebration at Duyong Marina, here, last night.

Among the activities are the Pendikir Muda Gathering, TSG Shimano Fellowship Ride 2020, Candat Sotong Carnival, Setiu Wetland Festival, Kenyir 2020 Festival, the Madinah Ramadan programme, Beautiful Terengganu Pelita Raya competition, Beach Carnival and the Terengganu Peranakan Festival.

Ariffin said Terengganu is also focusing on tourists from China and India following the federal government's announcement of visa exemption for a one-year starting today, as well as tourists from the Middle East.

He said the efforts included holding discussions with several airlines from China to provide special charter flights to Terengganu.
