Terengganu to recognise tourism industry players

After a lapse of almost 30 years, the state government will be reorganising the “Anugerah Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Terengganu (APKT)” to honour the role and contributions of the industry players.

State tourism, culture and information technology committee chairman Ariffin Deraman (pic) said organising APKT 2018/2019 was proof of Terengganu government’s commitment to empower the tourism industry to be among the state’s main sources of income.

“It is hoped that this awards event could also motivate industry players to provide the best services, making Terengganu renowned at the international level as a tourism destination,” he said.

There will be 13 categories and 31 awards this time, among which are the special award and awards for best domestic tourism operator, feature writing, photography, creative writing and for tourism product that is innovative and has best potential.

Among the categories are tourism package, hotel service, homestay, tour guide, tourism event programme, transportation, eateries, arts and culture and best district.

The awards presentation is expected to be launched by Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar today. — Bernama
